Using the Online Communities

Slack logo

We have created our online communities using the platform Slack. Slack is a secure online messaging application that is widely used by teams working in organisations and businesses. It provides a place for networking, collaboration, and reflection on the training and resources provided.

'How to' Guide

To access and use the 'Supporting Migrant Communities' online community is simple - see the short video on the left.

To sign up you need to complete this short google form and an email/ invite will be sent to you. Then, you need to create a profile (see the Privacy and Security section below).

After this, you are part of the online community, access content, read and send messages, create threads.

Community guidelines

The online community is a safe and friendly place where practitioners can share knowledge, questions, resources and reflections. The aim of this is to support learning and to create networks. To enable this,  members are asked to follow a few basic guidelines:

Privacy and security

You can find out about the security and privacy of the Slack platform on their web pages: https://slack.com/intl/en-gb/help/articles/202014843-Slack-data-security-and-privacy-policies

Your online profile

Part of signing up requires you to set up a profile, consisting of your name, nickname, preferred pronouns and an optional profile image.

To protect your privacy,  other community members will only see your nickname, pronouns and profile image. Your email address and real name will be hidden from other members (but will be visible to admins).
